DERMAL FILLERS
Dermal fillers are a soft tissue filler injected into the skin to help fill in facial wrinkles, restoring a smoother appearance. Dermal fillers are a form of hyaluronic acid that occurs naturally in the human body. Hyaluronic acid decreases within the body as we age. This affects our ability to retain water and moisture. The fillers are injected into the skin to improve aesthetics as they plump and rehydrate the skin tissue and diminish the signs of aging. They are a safe way of helping you achieve a natural fresh look by adding natural volume that help with the aging process.
The procedure itself is quick, but the effects are immediate. Being a natural product, the body eventually breaks down the collagens so the look is only temporary. The length of time varies dependent on a number of factors, such as age, the area covered (the area around the mouth tends to break down quicker due to movement) and the amount of filler required.
Dermal fillers are administered by applying numbing cream to the area prior to the procedure. A small amount of filler is then injected into or below the skin through a fine needle in order to fill out wrinkles, add volume and enhance the face or lips. After injection, it may require a gentle massage the treated area to even out results.
The results may vary depending on treatment areas, medication and other metabolism factors but they last from 6-18 months.
